Called, and Thankful (Part 2)

God calls His children to be thankful.

November 18, 2018

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

Colossians 3:15

Part 2

Yesterday we learned of the umpire in the believer, Jesus’ peace.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,”

Now:
“To the which also ye are called in one body;”
At salvation, each believer is placed into the “body of Christ” by the Holy Spirit.

“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit,” (1 Corinthians 12:12-13).

Please notice that there is “one body,” it is the “body of Christ,” and it is also called His Church.  All believers are a part of this “body” also called “the Bride of Christ.” (Ephesians 5).

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling,” (Ephesians 4:4).

How blessed we are to belong to Christ!

“And be ye thankful.”
Oh, believer, we have a constant responsibility, and that is to “keep on becoming thankful,” as Robertson translates this phrase from the ancient text.  Our thanksgiving needs to be constant and growing because of what Christ has done for us.  What a great salvation we have!  With it, and all the benefits attached to it, and with our “calling” how can we not be thankful to Him?

All Praise to Him Who Reigns Above1

1 All praise to Him who reigns above
In majesty supreme,
Who gave His Son for all to die,
That He might man redeem!

Refrain:
Blessed be the name! Blessed be the name!
Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name! Blessed be the name!
Blessed be the name of the Lord!

2 His name above all names shall stand,
Exalted more and more,
He’s seated at God’s own right hand,
Where angel hosts adore. [Refrain]

3 Redeemer, Savior, friend of man,
Once ruined by the fall,
Thou hast devised salvation’s call,
For thou hast died for all. [Refrain]

4 His name shall be the Counselor,
The mighty Prince of Peace,
Of all earth’s kingdoms conqueror,
Whose reign shall never cease! [Refrain]
