Living Water

In the spring of May 2002, the island of Guam was in the midst of a water shortage. It had been a dry year, and even in the tropics there are times when fresh water can be hard to come by. The need had become so critical that our aquifer from which our deep wells drew their water was many feet below the normal averages. In fact, some of the wells were bringing up brackish saltwater from the ocean leaking into the aquifer. The need for water was driven home to me and I began to think about our need, not just for physical water, but more importantly, for spiritual water that can only come from our Lord Jesus. I began to search the Scriptures to see what the Word says about "Living Water." You will notice that most of these Pacific Breezes have something to do with water. I trust these will encourage your heart and help you grow.

The dry barrenness in my soul can be turned into a refreshing spring if I will turn to God.

"He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings."

Where can I find satisfaction for my soul?  Only with the LORD!

"And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not."

Isaiah 58:11

Lord, I need you today and I want you every day!

"...As the hart [deer] panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.  My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"

Psalms 42:1-2

God cares about helpless people in need.  Ask Him to stand in for you.

"A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, God in his holy habitation.  God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land."

Psalm 68:5-6

How easy it is to forget the One who is the source of all our blessings.

"But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.  Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest."

It is God-like to love your enemies and bless them with kindness.

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

“Now,” is always the right time to repent and seek the LORD!

"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."
