Called, and Thankful (Part 1)

God calls His children to be thankful.

November 17, 2018

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

Colossians 3:15

Part 1

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,”
It is Jesus Christ who gives the believer peace.1  “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid,” (John 14:27).  The believer’s peace is forever linked to Jesus.  “For he [Jesus] is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us,” (Ephesians 2:14).

This peace, “ruling in our hearts” is to be the “umpire” there.  “Let the peace of Christ judge, decide, and govern in your hearts, as the brabeus, or judge, does in the Olympic contests.  No heart is right with God where the peace of Christ does not rule…”2  This peace “governs and controls” us.

“Let the peace of Christ act as umpire when anger, envy, and such passions arise; and restrain them.”3

“Let the peace of Christ rule within. Let the word of Christ dwell in the innermost chambers of the soul.”4

Conflicts in your soul?  Take the side that agrees with the Word for that is the side where peace will be found.  And remember that only Jesus can give you peace!

Come back tomorrow to learn of the Christians’ calling and his thanksgiving.
