“Great Praise for a Great God”

Though we search all our lives, we will never fully grasp God's greatness.

"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable."

Psalm 145:3

“Great is the LORD,”
All through the scriptures, we see that Jehovah is great!  Sadly, only the spiritually blind will not see how wonderful God is.  For “the just who live by faith,” His greatness is easily seen in His works.  Ezra the scribe knew this well.

“Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works,” (1 Chronicles 16:9).

“Remember his marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,” (1 Chronicles 16:12).

“Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all nations,” (1 Chronicles 16:24).

“And greatly to be praised;”
Jehovah alone deserves our praise, there is no other God.  We must praise Him!

“Worship should be somewhat like its object – great praise for a great God. There is no part of Jehovah’s greatness which is not worthy of great praise.”1

“I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies,” (Psalm 18:3).

“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness,” (Psalm 48:1).

“And his greatness is unsearchable.”
We can observe His greatness in His works, and words.  But it’s impossible, it cannot be done, there is no way that the human brain can wrap itself around the concept of “the greatness of God.”  No matter how inexhaustible the vast study, or how deep the exploration, the greatness of our God cannot be searched out.

“[God, El, Elohim] Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number,” (Job 5:9).

And this is the great God who wants us to love and serve Him!  We are continuously blessed by Him.
