God Says So! (Part 1 of 2)

No more death!  No more tears!  No more reproach!

April 7, 2020

"He will swallow up death in victory, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it."

Isaiah 25:8

Part 1

“He will swallow up death in victory.”
When something is “swallowed up,” it disappears for good.  Victory will swallow up death one day.  And “death” and “Hell” will be cast into “the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:14).

“…swallow up … in victory — [to] completely and permanently ‘abolish’” [1] (JFB).

“But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Timothy 1:10).

“God will abolish death so that there shall be no trace left of its former sway.” [2]

“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54).

“Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern psychiatry, said: ‘And finally there is the painful riddle of death, for which no remedy at all has yet been found, nor probably ever will be.’  Many think and reason as Freud, but Christians know this type of outlook in life is wrong.  There is a guaranteed remedy for death—Jesus Christ.” [3]

This old sinful world has no answer for death.  It is something that mankind fears but has no control over.  People try to dress up death by putting makeup on the corpse, and laying it out in a fancy coffin, and decorate the grave with beautiful flowers.  But death is still there, and the body hasn’t moved, it’s dead.

The only one who ever had the victory over death is Jesus Christ.  Come back tomorrow, and let’s see what His victory over death means to His people.
